President Uhuru addresses supporters at Burma Market, Nairobi

After the Supreme Court’s ruling, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto headed to Burma Market in Nairobi County where they urged residents to maintain peace and shun tribalism as Kenya should remain united.
President Uhuru however, thanked Kenyans for electing Jubilee Senators and Governors during August 8 polls. He hailed the Senate for voting in former Bungoma County Governor Ken Lusaka as the Speaker.

He insisted that Kenyans should not fight but instead believe in democracy.
Uhuru said he was confident that Kenyans will vote for him again.
Jubilee leaders led by Majority leader for Senate Kipchumba Murkomen and Governor Mike Sonko urged residents to re-elect President Uhuru in the coming election.
Uhuru disagreed with Chief Justice David Maraga’s ruling but he said he will respect the Supreme Court’s decision.

“Maraga should know he is now dealing with the President not President-elect,” he said.
The President pledged to work with Governor Mike Sonko to deal with land grabbers in Nairobi County.
“Plans are underway to give Burma Market a facelift starting from next week,” Uhuru assured the residents.
Fresh presidential elections will be held within 60 days and supervised by IEBC as directed by the Supreme Court.
