He made the remarks in Dar es Salaam on
Wednesday during the 19th Annual General Meet ing and 17th graduation
ceremony of Tanzania Institute of Bankers (TIOB). He insisted graduates
to apply the knowledge they got to improve banking services.
The Governor has also called upon the
Chief Executives of Banks and financial institutions continue giving
moral and material support to their employees so as to enable them
acquire profes sional banking qualifications essential for handling the
business of banking in an efficient and reliable manner.
“Many clients complain about poor
customer care service in some of financial institutions,” he said and
called on the graduates to prove that they are competent in work for
their employees by working according to their professional guidelines.
“The knowledge and skills you have
acquired are your most important ingredients to the strengthening of not
only your banking career but also the financial services industry at
large,” he stressed.
He noted that TIOB works closely with
their partners in East Africa as well as the Alliance of African
Institute of Bankers in the region in developing banking professionalism
and standards in banking operations in the country.
The TIOB Executive Director Patrick
Mususa said the mission of the Tanzania Institute of Bankers is to
promote the banking profession in Tanzania by offering certification and
training aimed to develop and maintain banking skills.
According to him 177 candidates are
graduated yesterday, where 17 in Banking certificate, 141 as certified
professional bankers and 19 as Specialists, most of these graduates are
banking staffs.
“I wish to appreciate the support they
obtained from their employers that has enabled them to graduate today
and also I wish to call upon all banks and financial institutions to
utilize fully the certification and training programmes provided by the
institute,” he said.
