Last weekend’s WWE
wrestling Summerslam Thriller at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New
York, has excited the sport’s fans worldwide with interesting contests
still lined up for the rest of this summer.
Brock
Lesnar defeated Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman to retain the
Universal Championship title in Sunday night’s action while Jinder
Mahal beat Shinsuke Nakamura to retain the WWE Championship title.
In
other contests, AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens via Pinfall to lift the
US Championship title as Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeated Sheamus
and Cesaro via Pinfall to be crowned the Raw Tag Team Champions.
Home
fans’ favourite Finn Balor outclassed Bray Wyatt as Sasha Banks
dramatically defeated defending champion Alexa Bliss, to become the new
Raw Women’s Championship winner.
Randy Orton emerged
victorious over Russev via pinfall as Big Cass out muscled the Big Show
with Enzo Amore in a shark cage above the ring.
Natalya
beat defending champion Naomi to become the new WWE Women championship
winner as crowd favourite John Cena defeated Baron Corbin via pinfall in
the first encounter of the night.
WWE champion Mahal defeated Japanese megastar Nakamura in a hard-fought brawl.
The “Modern Day Maharaja” has been the reigning champion since Backlash, back in May, when he defeated Randy Orton.
The 31-year-old became the first person of Indian descent to claim the championship and was helping to push the WWE in India.
But
fans elsewhere were less impressed with his reign, regarding him as not
worthy of the belt having been elevated to the position in a matter of
weeks directly from the lower card.
Many have gone as far as branding him “the worst WWE Champion ever”.
WWE Raw gets underway this week with all the superstars lined up to take on each other for the honours in the popular contest.
