Building supplier trains 300 masons

 

ONE of the country’s leading suppliers of building and construction products, NabakiAfrika, has embarked on training of local masons as it seeks to empower the artisans to perform their projects professionally.

“We have so far covered 103 masons across our network of branches but our desire is to spread the training all over the country,” the Project Coordinator at the firm, Mr Jesse Madauda, explained in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The short-courses, according to the official, cover areas such as business planning, proposal writing, health and safety at work places in addition to building plan and budgeting.
“Through the initiative the artisans are also trained on identifying fake and substandard building and construction products, Mr Madunda said during the launch of NabakiAfrika’s largest showroom at Boko area along New Bagamoyo Road in the city.
The branch becomes the firth since the company opened shop at Buguruni in the year 1993. From an annual turnover of less than 100,000 US dollars then, the firm extended its network to Mikocheni, Kariakoo, Masaki and Arusha and it currently records an annual turnover of 14 million US dollars.
It as well boasts of a network of over 40 distributors, 5,000 regular customers in addition to database network of 30,000 contacts with its workforce presently at aver and above 100 people.
Mr Emmanuel Mauki, Managing Director of startup construction company namely Emma Mapaa Company, is among beneficiaries of the training and he gave a testimony on how the courses helped him to improve his business.
