Nigeria's acting President Yemi Osinbajo is expected to brief
the nation after visiting ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in a London
hospital.
Prof Osinbajo reportedly met with President Buhari Tuesday for about one hour.
The visit came two months after Buhari left for medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
The
president went to London on May 7, on the day that he received some 87
of the Chibok schoolgirls girls released by the Boko Haram militants.
He
had in January also sought medical attention in UK and returned in
March, declaring that ‘he had never felt so sick in his life’.
Hints that the president was recovering were dropped via metaphors by his wife Aisha on Facebook.
The
First Lady wrote that 'hyenas and jackals' would soon be flushed out of
‘the kingdom’, with the return of the 'Lion King', a reference to
President Buhari.
The president left Nigeria with assurances that there was no cause for worry.
He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their prayers and good wishes.
Senior
Special Assistant to the acting President on Media and Publicity Laolu
Akande late Tuesday described the encounter between the two leaders as
''a very good meeting”.
“We will soon share more information about acting President’s London meeting with President Buhari. It was a very good meeting.
“God bless Nigeria,’’ said Mr Akande.
Prof
Osinbajo jetted out of Abuja soon after presiding over the Quarterly
Presidential Business Forum on Tuesday morning at the Presidential
Villa.
Mr Akande had earlier confirmed on his Twitter
handle that Prof Osinbajo had left for London to meet the President, but
did not give details.
He added that the acting president would return to Abuja immediately after the meeting.
