NIC Bank and
Strathmore University on Wednesday launched an entrepreneurship course
to help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) withstand disruption as they
upscale businesses.
The six-month course helps SMEs
understand the business environment, identify opportunities for
viable expansion as well as prepare to counter rivals, riding on information technology.

Speaking when they signed a memorandum of
understanding, the bank’s group managing director John Gachora said the
NIC Business Club members will pay Sh100,000 which includes a 37.5 per
cent discount.

Prof John Odhiambo said industry players must engage local universities
to ensure the curricula is in tandem with the needs of the job market.
“We
are creating a link that promotes input from industry on curriculum
development. This will ensure our graduates join the job market as
innovators for better products, better processes and hence higher
profits for our companies,” he said.

Business Club members will also enjoy benchmarking trips abroad that
enable them to venture into value addition thereby creating more jobs
for Kenyans
