Pay-TV service provider MultiChoice and
telecommunications firm Telkom Kenya have partnered to bundle their
services in a bid to grow their number of subscribers.
In
a special promotion dubbed DStv Na Net, customers purchasing the pay-TV
firm’s high definition decoder retailing at Sh3,800 will get a free
Orange Wi-Fi router loaded with 30GB internet bundles.
The
package also comes with a one-month DStv compact bouquet that will
allow users access to entertainment, sports and news channels.
“We
listen to our customers to understand their changing lives and what
matters most to them. The Internet has today evolved into a basic need
as an essential for doing business, in addition to connecting with
family and friends on social networks,” DStv sales and distribution
manager, Steve Kombo said. “In this regard, it is therefore a key goal
for DStv and Telkom Kenya to empower many more consumers to experience
the best television entertainment on DStv and at the same time the most
affordable Internet through easy and affordable access.”
After
the first month, users will be required to pay respective rates to
continue enjoying the services. For instance, users will pay Sh2,990 per
month for Orange’s 30GB Xcell data bundles.
Telkom Kenya’s chief corporate communications officer
George Mlaghui said the partnership was a way of giving users innovative
and accessible communications solutions for every day communication
needs.
“This Wi-Fi router, the Domino, is a high speed plug and play data product that supports up to 15 users,” Mr Mlaghui said.
“The
free 30 GB Internet bundle goes to show that we have the customer at
heart and want to give them the opportunity of trying out our data
offering and making an informed long-term choice of Internet service
provider, as a result of their experience on our network.”
