THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has extended the deadline for verifying Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) for Dar es Salaam Region.
TRA Director for Taxpayer Services and Education, Mr Richard Kayombo, told reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday that due to various reasons it has been observed that most taxpayers and the general public failed to take part in the exercise.
“The authority wishes to inform all TIN holders in Dar es Salaam who did not get a chance to verify that they should visit their tax regions offices for verification instructions,” he noted.
He added: “We expect those who are yet to verify their TIN will use this time to do so as from 15 February the exercise will commence in other regions which means the equipments will be taken to those areas for the purpose that means only few equipment will remain in Dar es Salaam.”
Mr Kayombo insisted that taxpayers must verify their information before acquiring services such as reimbursement of customs duties on imports and exports, updating the driver’s licence, paying an annual fee for vehicles, pay other taxes administered by the authorities and tax clearance certificate.
