U.Nations organises knowledge sharing workshop

THE United Nations and its agencies in Tanzania in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office has organized a three-day knowledgesharing workshop in Dodoma beginning tomorrow.

The workshop follows a joint implemented programme by the UN and its agencies between 2015 coming to an end. The programme was focused on five high impact priority areas of sustainable enterprise development.
It also focused on decent work for youth, enhancing agriculture productivity, skills development and building labour market information systems. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and People with Disabilities), Dr Abdallah Possi, is scheduled to be guest of honour.
“The workshop aims at assessing and highlighting the achievements made and challenges met in the course of implementation of this programme,” according to a statement issued in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The event is meant to provide key stakeholders with on-the-field experience of selected interventions, providing project beneficiaries opportunities to share their experiences and achievements.
There will be as well exhibitions of products by beneficiaries. The event is also expected to facilitate networking and exchanges on youth employment agenda.
The workshop will bring together about 150 participants, including representatives from various ministries, development and social partners, youth, researchers, the academia, the media and civil society organizations.
In addition to holding youth dialogues and presentations, participants will also visit various projects’ beneficiaries in Dodoma and Singida.
Among those to be visited include beekeeping projects in Dodoma and Singida, production of quality sunflower seeds variety for oil production as well as youth industrial and fabrication services.
The UN implementing agencies for the programme include the International Labour Organization (ILO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The other agency was the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
