IN a bid to achieve the objectives of making Tanzania an industrial country, the government should ensure it builds up the best business environment in the country.
Launching of the Business Environmental
Regulatory Licencing Reform Committee in Dar es Salaam over the weekend,
the Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Charles Mwijage,
said that it was advisable to double efforts to create a conducive
environment for better business goals to achieve the desired
development.
“A better business environment is the
essential foundation for strengthening investment to boost the economy,
create jobs, raise incomes and reduce poverty. We need to see investment
inside and outside the country increased,” Mr Mwijage said.
He added that the main aim of create
this committee is to make a detailed analysis of the business
environment in the country and make recommendations to the government on
improving the environment.
The minister noted the areas mostly
complained about, including loan access from banks and other financial
institutions, land registration, obtaining building permits, investment
for small entrepreneurs and starting a business.
“The government has belief in this team
and my ministry expects that this team will apply high expertise and
focus on the interests of the country. This team is expected to complete
his work within six months from its launch,” he explained.
He said that to reach the goal of
industrialisation, the private sector should work amidst existing
challenges to facilitate business operations. Earlier, the Permanent
Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Trade and Investments, Professor Aldof
Mkenda, called upon traders to present all challenges in order to be
added to the law.
“We will ensure that our traders conduct
their business in a conducive environment to achieve the desired
goals,” he said. He added that such efforts needed collaborative efforts
to boost the country’s economy through rapid and greater
industrialisation.
