Gurjit to lead Tanzanian duo in Kenya’s Guru Nanak Rally

DAILY NEWS Reporter
GURJIT Dhani will lead the Tanzanian crews of Hari Singh Rally team in the Kenyan Guru Nanak Rally scheduled to rev off this weekend in Soysambu and Naivasha regions. Other members of Hari Singh Rally team are Rajpar Dhani and Ajminder Singh, all competing under Kilimanjaro Motor Sports Club umbrella.

Organisers Kenya Motorsports Federation confirmed this week that the three brothers are the only Tanzanian entries in the Kenyan season ender.
Speaking from Moshi shortly before they departed to Kenya yesterday, Gurjit Dhani said he will compete in his ultramodern Subaru Impreza GVB15 and will his brother Rajpal.
The third brother, Ajminder Singh Dhani, will be competing in Subaru Impreza N10. The Dhani siblings will be the first Tanzanian nationals to grace the Kenya National Rally Championship this season, after over a decade since Tanzania fielded seven drivers in the Kenyan round of African Rally Championship (ARC).
The drivers who raided the Kenyan round in 2006 were Omar Bakhresa, Saleh Balhabou, Ahmed Huwel, Navraj Hans, Kirit Pandya, Navraj Hans and Pano Calavria. Other foreign drivers who have participated in the series include Manvir Baryans, Briton navigator Drew Sturrock, Finn co-driver Pasi Torma and flying Finn Tapio Laukkanen who has for the last two seasons raced on Kenyan competition licence.
Clerk of the course Pipi Renu said the trio are expected to spice up the series, which has been to Kisumu, twice in Kajiado, Elementaita, Wundanyi, Nanyuki and Eldoret. Meanwhile, organisers are leaving nothing to chance in as far as safety is concerned.
In a bid to provide a spectators friendly set up, organisers of the season-closing event will be running the event on 100 percentw private land sections.
The event will be flagged off outside KCB Branch in Naivasha town on November 26 after which cars will head straight to the designated spectator stage at Aberdare Hills Golf Resort which will be repeated twice
