His directive urges all councils to form
such committees from the village, ward, divisional, district and
regional levels. He made the call recently at different times during his
tour in Mwanza and Simiyu regions where he also visited people with
special needs at Bukumbi, Mitindo school for children with special needs
and Lamadi care centre for children with albinism.
Dr Possi said that following the prime
minister’s directive in March all councils in the country should
establish committees that will help to solve challenges facing people
with disabilities.
“It is very important to implement the
directive provided by the Prime Minister’s Office, which require
councils to form committees of people with disabilities,” he explained.
He further stressed that the directive
of forming the committees would the government access information of
people with disabilities in order to find the best means of dealing with
challenges facing them.
The Prime Minister’s Office issued the
directive to help determine the needs of people with disabilities and
find the best ways for solving challenges facing them.
Minister Possi said the Fifth Phase
Government is committed to providing people with disabilities and
special needs with opportunities to participate in all spheres of
national development.
Misungwi District Commissioner (DC),
Juma Sweda, congratulated the government for raising the voices of
people with disabilities.
