Two JNIA officials face sanctions for lying to Magufuli

DAILY NEWS Reporter
PRESIDENT John Magufuli has ordered the Director of Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), Mr Paul Rwegasha, to demote two officials who lied to him when he visited the airport in May.

Soon after President Joseph Kabila left for home, Dr Magufuli made a surprise visit at the JNIA Terminal One’s cargo inspection area, the same place where he made a similar visit in May and found out that some scanners were not functioning.
During his stopover yesterday, Dr Magufuli confirmed first hand - information that all scanners were running - as he observed inspection of luggage by the machines.
The president also instructed Mr Rwegasha to institute disciplinary action against the two officials who gave him false information in May that all scanners were functioning.
“I have observed today that the scanners are fully operational; but you should punish or demote those officials who lied to me,” Dr Magufuli directed.
