MKOMBOZI Commercial Bank, has donated 100 desks to Ngarama Primary School in Bukoba District following President John Pombe Magufuli’s call for institutions and other well wishers to donate desks to schools.
The desks were handed over by the bank’s
Managing Director, Mrs Edwina Lupembe to Bukoba District Commissioner,
Deodatus Kinawilo at an event held at the school premises yesterday.
Ms Lupembe said they were deeply touched
by the desks issue and thought they should also chip in so as to ensure
students have a proper learning atmosphere. “We as Mkombozi bank value
education and support government’s efforts and initiatives especially
this desks campaign. Previously we heard of incidents where pupils and
students sat on the floor.
The wise men said, if your strategic
plan is for one year, plant paddy, if you have a 10 year plan, plant
trees but if you have a 100 years plan, then educate the children. We
all agree that our Government’s strategic plan for education is for 100
years,” she said.
She appealed to the school
administration to ensure that the desks are put into proper use so they
can benefit as many students as possible and also called on students to
work extra hard as they would be enjoying better studying environment.
She said in addition to giving back to the community, the bank has also
introduced various products that aim at assisting low income people and
the most recent product is the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF)
loans.
“This is a sustainable service and I
want to make a special appeal to parents and teachers to join various
Saccos and self help groups which will assist them to access these NHIF
loans from our Bukoba branch,” she said adding that this will be a big
relief as most students will now be treated through their parents’
insurance.
She called on Kagera residents to visit
the Mkombozi bank Bukoba Branch where they will get more details about
the NHIF loans product.
According to her Mkombozi Bank also runs
a special account known as student account which is ideal for parents
to save money for children for future use. She said the bank also offers
mobile banking where customers can transfer money from their accounts
to their phones and vice versa through Airtel Money, Tigopesa and M-pesa
throughout the country anytime of the day.
