Dar residents to enjoy free Wi-Fi in public, recreational areas

Vice - President Samia Suluhu Hassan has launched project of installing Wi-Fi services in public and recreational places in Dar es Salaam at the weekend.
The implementation of the project by the Tanzania Telecommunication Company Limited (TTCL) will expand communication services to reach more people and boost economic growth.
Vice-President commended TTCL for executing the project of making internet services reliable to the bigger part of the city particularly in public and recreational places.
“I commend you for making this project a reality... and hope with planting of trees in different parts of the city including recreational places, people will get access into internet services,” she said.
On his part, the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner (RC) Mr Paul Makonda said the project is one of the fifth phase government efforts to improve various services, in particular communication and internet services to all.
The TTCL Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Waziri Waziri Kindamba said using its long experience in the telecom sector, TTCL stands to support government efforts in improving Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to reach more people using Wi-Fi platform.
“TTCL in collaboration with other stakeholders will continue making all public and recreational places starting with Dar es Salaam get access to Wi-Fi services,” he said.
The implementation of the project is the beginning of the journey to building towns and cities in the level of ‘smart city’.
