TIB donates 100 iron sheets to Songwe region

DAILY NEWS Reporter
TIB Corporate Bank yesterday donated 100 iron sheets to Songwe region to curb shortage of classrooms, teachers’ houses and toilets.
Songwe, which is among the newly-carved regions, will use the iron sheets for covering several school classrooms in the region’s districts of Mbozi, Momba, Ileje, Songwe and Tunduma.
Speaking at the handingover ceremony TIB Corporate Bank Managing Director, Frank Nyabundege, said the donation was aimed at showing the bank’s commitment in supporting the education sector.
“Government alone cannot successfully fund a functional educational system, so it’s important for us to support this cause by creating better environment for our future leaders to acquire education,” he said.
Thanking TIB Corporate Bank for the donation, Songwe Regional Commissioner, Chiku Galawa, expressed her gratitude for the assistance, saying it was critical to support education sector in the country.
“We thank TIB Corporate Bank for this support which supplements government’s efforts to ensure that more and more children are educated. No country in the world can develop without having an educated citizenry,” Galawa said.
