Sirro wants Dar police killers ‘dead or alive’

IDDY MWEMA
KILLERS of a traffic police officer in Dar es Salaam recently will soon be arrested, alive or dead, Special Zone Police Commander Simon Sirro vowed yesterday.

Commander Sirro, on behalf of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ernest Mangu, led hundreds of mourners in the city yesterday to pay last respects to Sergeant Mensah Dishe who was shot dead on Friday by unknown people.
The traffic police officer was murdered in cold blood at around 8 pm at Sayansi traffic light, Kijitonyama in the city. “We have been saddened by the incident, we have lost our colleague in a very bad way.
I have already directed all those working on this case to speed up their investigations and ensure that all the assailants are arrested alive or dead,” said Commander Sirro, noting that no stone will be left unturned in search of the murders.
The motive behind the murder has not yet been established, but Mr Sirro stressed: “No one has the right to kill anyone -- for whatever reason.” He urged the family of the deceased and members of the public to accord the police force the cooperation they need in their successful pursuance of the case.
Kinondoni Road Safety Committee Chairman Idd Azzan urged the police force to work tirelessly until they apprehend the suspects for stern legal measures.
“We also advise our police officers to be extra careful on their duties as there are both good and bad citizens,” said Mr Azzan, describing Sergeant Mensah as the hero who loved his work and participated in various road safety committee activities of educating the public about road safety.
