According to a statement issued by the
NBAA Executive Director, Mr Pius Maneno, only 974 out 7,106 candidates
passed the exams. “In total 974 (15 per cent) candidates have passed the
examinations while 2,107 (32 per cent) candidates passed some of the
subjects in the respective examination level and 3,418 (52.6 per cent)
failed their examinations,” he noted.
Mr Maneno said a total of 7,106
candidates were registered for the NBAA 2016 examinations and among them
607 (8.5 per cent) were absent from the examinations due to various
reasons and 6,499 (91.5 per cent) sat for the examinations.
The 83rd examinations involved
examination candidates at levels of accounting technicians’ levels I and
II, Foundation Level, Intermediate and Final level under the competence
based syllabi.
In the Accounting Technician Level 11,
Mr Maneno said that 40 candidates passed their examinations and will be
issued with certificates of completion of the Accounting Technician
Certificates (ATEC) examinations.
In CPA examinations, some of 282
candidates qualified, making a total 7,171 passed CPAs since the
commencement of the Board’s examinations. He said 103 of the 282
candidates were female and 179 (63.5 per cent) were male.
According to the statement, in
accounting level, a total of 349 (30.9 per cent) candidates passed the
examinations while 32 (29 .1 per cent) passed some of the subjects and
44 (40 per cent) failed the exams.
Mr Maneno stated in the statement that
in Professional Stage, 52.4 per cent candidates passed the examinations
while 38.4 per cent passed some subjects and 9.2 per cent failed their
examinations.
In Intermediate Level, some 10.5 per cent candidates qualified while 32.5 per cent passed some subjects as 57.1 per cent failed.
“In final stage, a total 300 (13.1 per
cent) candidates have passed the examinations while 708 (30.9 per cent)
passed some of the subjects as 1,281 (56 per cent) failed their
examinations,” he noted.
