Symbion boss to chair Invest Africa

DAILY NEWS Reporter
TANZANIA’S Symbion Power Chief Executive Officer Paul Hinks has been appointed chairman of Invest Africa in the United States.

Invest Africa is a private global network of decision makers at some of the world’s leading investment organisations and provides its members with a multi-service platform for access and investment on the continent.
Mr Hinks, according to a press statement in Dar es Salaam, will spearhead the expansion of the network’s mission to become the pre-eminent global platform dedicated to private sector connectivity in sub-Saharan Africa.
Rob Hersov, founder and Chairman of Invest Africa, said yesterday through statement that: “Paul is a great evangelist for investing in Africa and is the driving force of the success of Symbion Power ... I am proud to welcome him as chairman of Invest Africa USA.”
The founder believes that Mr Hinks would bring his singular drive to their strategy of ensuring dynamic African entrepreneurs and companies connect with dynamic international capital. “We expect US investment in Africa to accelerate and Paul Hinks, along with Bob Diamond, are the two leading US entrepreneurs making this happen,” Mr Hersov said.
Mr Hinks retired as the Chairman of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in the United States in April after four years of service. He assumed his new position at Invest Africa yesterday and continues as a board member at CCA.
Mr Hinks has over 36 years of experience in the energy sector in Africa and other parts of the developing world.
“I am excited to join what is a phenomenal new organisation … and I think we will soon see Invest Africa members from the US partnering on the continent with members from other parts of the world and of course, with African entrepreneurs.”
