Medical facilities for upgrading

DAILY NEWS Reporters in Dodoma
THE government is planning to put in place a system that will help in upgrading of dispensaries, health centres and hospitals according to the needs of the public across the country.

The Minister of State in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Mr George Simbachawene, said the move follows discrepancies in distribution of health services in many areas across the country, stressing that it is not possible in four wards there is not even one health centre.
The minister of state was responding to a supplementary question from Mr Stephen Ngonyani (Korogwe Rural – CCM), who wanted to know when the government will upgrade Magunga Hospital to a designated hospital because the district hospital is currently overcrowded with patients.
Mr Simbachawene said he had already discussed with the Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elders and Children on areas that will be prioritised in upgrading of hospitals and health centres across the country and according to requests.
Responding to the same question earlier, the Deputy Minister of State in the President’s office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Mr Seleman Jafo, acknowledged that Korogwe district Hospital is overwhelmed, noting that he witnessed this when he visited the hospital.
“The government has prioritised upgrading of Korogwe District Hospital to a regional hospital,” adding that they are waiting for all requirements by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Eldersand Children to be fulfilled.
In the basic question, Ms Sikudhani Chikambo (Special Seats – CCM), wanted to know when Tunduru Hospital, which serves two constituencies will be availed a new ambulance. In his response, Mr Jaffo said in the 2016/17 financial year, 141m/- has been set aside for Tunduru District from domestic sources to purchase an ambulance for the hospital
