THE National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) has embarked on a business plan competition to facilitate unraveling the problem of unemployment to young people.
NEEC Executive Secretary Ms Beng’i Issa
told a press conference in Dar es Salaam that the council and ILO would
offer 150m/- to ten winners of the competition dubbed ‘Ajira Yangu’,
saying the applicants should be 18-35 years citizens of Tanzania.
“The scheme has been designed to provide
young people with startup capital in order to create more opportunities
of employment,” said the NEEC Executive Secretary. Ms Issa explained
that a business plan should indicate how it could employ more young
people pointing out that applicants for the competition should fill up
the forms available on www.uwezeshaji.go.tz.
“Applications are open from April 18 to
May 9, 2016 and they can be submitted electronically at
www.uwezeshaji.go.tz,” she observed.
Ms Issa pointed out that priority
sectors as agribusiness and agri-processing including manufacturing,
media, marketing, communications, sports, logistics, arts and culture,
tourism and recreation.
She mentioned other areas of priority as
green and ecological business including social business plus
Information and Communication Technologies, including business
processing and outsourcing.
“A total of 25 successful applicants
will receive an intensive training in how best to write a business
proposal,” said the NEEC Executive Secretary.
Ms Issa further said the successful
applicants will be required to write a business proposal after receiving
training, saying the applicants will present their business proposals
before a panel of judges, consultants and invited investors.
