ICT firm set to liberate teachers in reduction of paper work

DAILY NEWS Reporter
PRIMARY and secondary school teachers and school administrators can now reduce paper work and save money, thanks to the technological innovations through the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that plays key role in automating school works.

Wamoja ICT Consulting Limited Managing Director Rachel Msanga said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that her company has developed system software christened UBUYU, which is intended to help school teachers and administrators to increase efficiency and enhance performance.
“With the system, school teachers and administrators can perform multiple works performed daily, including students’ registration, attendances, arranging results for examinations, tests and home works,” she said.
She said the system was named UBUYU, the smallest baobab seed that grows into a very big tree, signifying that it would be developed and perform many functions, thus saving time and money. Msanga said the survey conducted in Chang’ombe primary and secondary schools as well as Minaki Secondary school found that teachers and administrators were spending more time in other school works instead of teaching due to paper work.
After the introduction of the technological innovations, several primary and secondary school teachers and administrators in Dar es Salaam have expressed great interest and pledged to integrate it in the next financial year.
Wamoja ICT Consulting Limited Assistant Programmer Joel Masaro said the use of ICT in enhancing the quality and efficiency in the education sector is no more an option and should be integrated to become part and parcel of the day to day activities.
With the system, he said, teachers and administrators can just write the names of the students and get all their information instantly.
