Geita Gold scoops the OSHA company of the year award

THE Anglogold Ashanti, Geita Gold Mine has been picked by Occupational Safety and Health Authority – Osha as the best mining company of the year to observe safety and healthy grids.

Also, Acacia North Mara was chosen as the best exhibitor of the year while Aluminium Africa – ALAF Ltd emerged the best in the manufacturing category.
The Chief Executive Officer for, Osha, Dr Akwilina Kayumba said this while addressing the Minister for Policy, Parliamentary, Labour, Employment and Disabled Ms Jenista Mhagama who attended the Osha Exhibitions as the guest of honour.
The OSHA Exhibitions for this year are currently going on in Dodoma municipality. The CEO said this year Osha has set their plans to perform three major tasks, which include registration of places of work, conducting education programme to various entrepreneurial groups at informal sector and exhibitions.
The CEO further said the achievements that have already been covered include a total of 450 new working places being registered by Osha countrywide. Also, a total of 2,100 members of small entrepreneurial groups were given education for safety and health measures at their places of business to avoid risks.
The CEO said the slogan for this year Osha exhibitions is “work place stress is a collective challenge, let’s work together for them”
