IN a move to boost the country’s health services,
National Microfinance Bank Plc (NMB) in partnership with Stiching
Medical Credit Fund (MCF), are set to disburse affordable loans of up to
Sh2bn to private hospitals, health centres, and medical service
providers.

fact, NMB becomes the first bank in the country to enter into such
partnership, with MCF set to support the country’s health sector while
collaborating in implementing healthcare financing, broaden and
strengthen the quality of healthcare provision.
The partnership will give healthcare providers access to finance including a special technical assistance package which will help players to identify suppliers of quality medical equipment, training for medical practitioners and service quality improvement.
In a statement released in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, NMB said under such partnership, qualified hospitals will be able to get loan ranging from Sh30m.
NMB’s Managing Director Ineke Bussemaker said the partnership will contribute to increasing access to affordable basic healthcare while helping to build sustainable health providers through loan provision.
He said this would contribute to an increased access to affordable basic healthcare in the country.NMB and MCF are partnering to expand the market and reach out to a much wider community for healthcare financing.
Monique Dolfing-Vogelenzang, the CEO for MCF sees the partnership as crucial in realising funds objectives of increasing access to affordable basic health delivery.
“Access to investment capital has been a challenge in many African countries, with this partnership, we are happy that many private hospitals, health centres, dispensaries will have the capacity to invest in modern and sophisticated health apparatus,” she said.
