THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) jointly with with the Tanzania Women Bank (TWB) are conducting training for women entrepreneurs at Pugu Station in Dar es Salaam to enable them improve their businesses.
It is expected that at the end of the
training, the women entrepreneurs will be able to boost their abilities
to access markets for their products and loans from financial
institutions.
Through the initiative, the social
security scheme is as well using the opportunity to educate the
entrepreneurs on joining the fund through voluntary contribution
arrangement.
According to Managing Director of TWB,
Ms Margaret Chacha, such training will empower Small and Medium
Enterprises (SMEs) to produce quality products for the market.
“Accessing markets and credit facilities are among challenges which have
held back entrepreneurs, particularly women, to expand their
operations,” Ms Chacha said on the sidelines of the exercise.
She added; “TWB has been providing loans
to entrepreneurs to acquire surveyed plots, motor vehicles and
motorcycles, among others.” With the surveyed plots, entrepreneurs will
be able to acquire title deeds to be used as collateral when seeking
loans from financial institutions.
On the other hand, through the voluntary
contribution to NSSF members can contribute a minimum of 20,000/- per
month of which will enable them to access treatment benefit with four
dependants.
At the same occasion, an official from
the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Ms Catherine Lyombe, urged the
entrepreneurs to put more weight on products to be supplied to investors
in the mining as well as oil and natural gas industry.
She noted that as part of local content
in the extractive industry, Tanzanians are encouraged to produce
materials to be supplied to the booming industry
