KAGERA Regional Commissioner, Major Gen (rtd) Salum Mustapha Kijuu, has appealed for commitment and hard work from public servants warning that there was no room for laxity.
Gen Kijuu said the fifth phase government under President John Magufuli was committed to serve well the majority poor and asked everyone to pull up his/her socks to fulfill this promise.
He emphasized that each one should fulfill his/ her role without waiting to be pushed. He directed District Commissioners in Bukoba, Biharamulo, Muleba, Ngara, Karagwe, Kyerwa and Misenyi districts to ensure that people work hard and stop loitering.
He directed them to ensure that the region has enough food reserve.
He also directed District Councils to collect maximum revenue through electronic system. He tasked the councils to look for alternative internal sources to fill the gap. He also directed District Executive Directors to ensure that all ghost workers were deleted from their pay-rolls giving deadline on March 30, this year.
Gen Kijuu tasked the Regional Immigration Officer, Mr Abdallah Towo, to ensure that no aliens enter the country without following laid down immigration procedures. “We cannot allow aliens to terrorise our people.
Security at border posts must be beefed up,” he said. He directed District Commissioners to give mandate to Village Chairmen to enable them to trace the foreigners and give a feed back. He assured the residents in the region that security was a priority and appealed for cooperation to contain the situation
