In Summary
  • Despite the publicity that one company has received lately, the services were here earlier.

Many people are aware of the taxi wars and woes that have dominated the headlines in the past few weeks. What most people do not know is that fact that Uber is not the only taxi that is using this new system to serve riders.
The system where you call for a taxi using an app on your smartphone started a year ago, with the entry of International companies like Easy Taxi, Pewin and Maramoja, which is a local outfit.
This system has been embraced by many since what everyone wants is a convenient, affordable and efficient travel system within the city.
Instead of cramming numbers in your phonebook of cab drivers and having to wait until they complete their errands before coming to get you, all you need now is a simple application on your phone to hail a taxi.
Innovations have made it possible for both local companies like Maramoja and Pewin along with international companies like Uber and Easy Taxi to tap into the clientele that prefers to do everything from the comfort of their phone.
In order to fit into this category of tech savvy individuals, one needs to have a smartphone that is GPS enabled and with enough memory space to be able to download a particular application.

Different applications have diverse features that make it easier for people to use when booking a ride. The number of additional features ultimately increases the size of the application and requires more memory space on your phone for it to work effectively.
All applications require for the GPS and Internet to allow a person to make a booking, meaning you need to either have purchased enough internet bundles or have adequate airtime on your phone.
Pewin Cab’s mobile application allows you to manage and book trips for immediate pick up as well as pre-bookings for appointments later on in the day.
The application uses GPS to find a person’s exact location and based on where they want to be picked from and shows how many minutes it will take for a taxi to arrive.
The application has  a  size  of about 18.6 MB and one can opt to  register an individual  or corporate  account  in the event that they  would like to  use the  services  for their employees.

Upon selecting the destination, choosing a payment option and confirming the booking, one is able to enjoy the taxi ride and pay using cash or credit at the end of it all.
If there are any changes to the travel plans, then you can cancel your trip at no cost.
