Family Bank will open nine more branches as part of its growth strategy even as it prepares to enter the regional market.
The lender’s director in charge of retail banking, Mr David Thuku, said the bank plans to open the outlets before the end of the year, which will bring the total number of branches to 100.
“We are an ambitious bank because we understand why it is important to bring financial services closer to the people as one way of transforming their lives and grow their businesses,” said Mr Thuku.
Speaking at Molo Stadium on Friday during a customer luncheon attended by the Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, the bank founder, Mr Titus Muya said going regional is still one of the bank’s long-term vision.
“We are in the top race of opening more branches in the country and once we are through with the country, our journey of creating more wealth for the residents of East Africa will also include opening regional offices,” said Mr Muya.
He said due to cross-border trading there is a great need to go regional in order to serve Kenyans and other residents doing business with locals.

Family Bank Chairman Wilfred Kiboro urged county governments to work closely with financial institutions if they hope to develop their regions. “As a bank, we are happy we are working with Nakuru County and others, and we hope to partner with the counties in a bid to fight poverty at the grassroots,” said Mr Kiboro. He urged the devolved units to use fresh university graduates and other scholars in their counties to push their development agenda to the next level by offering them internship opportunities.
Mr Thuku said that through the bank’s foundation, more than 350 students from poor families in 47 counties are now enjoying their learning after they received financial support from the kitty.
“This year we shall award 100 scholarships to bright and needy students who have joined various secondary schools across the country because the aim of the foundation is to transform the Kenyan family positively for African renaissance,” he said.
