TASAF programmes prove vital in supporting vulnerable groups

RESIDENTS of Butuja and Rumala at Ilemela ward in Ilemela Municipality, Mwanza region whom are among the most vulnerable groups have hailed the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) for changing and improving their economic status.

The residents moved their thanks here yesterday following successful implementation of the TASAF projects in the municipality. Ms Magdallena Hagira, Kariba William and Veronika Mpiripiri said the projects have helped them change their live styles individually and that of their school children as most of them are now attending classes.
Ms Hagira who was eagerly waiting to be among those who will be included in the TASAF third phase programme said that she would pray for TASAF management to sustain the programme for the poor.
She said her 40,000/- he took from TASAF was used to buy two bags of cement in which one bag she had used to construct a foundation stone for two rooms and the other bag was used to make 90 bricks.
“Now the money is gone and I do not have another for completing my house, I ask TASAF in the next phase to assist me another money so that I complete the construction of my house and I thank TASAF because some of the grant (money) I bought food for my grandchildren”, she said.
On his part, Finia Malumba of Butuja said he has nothing to blame TASAF as the project supported her 72,000/- for two phases in which he used the money in making the foundation stone and used the other amount to buy a school uniform to his children.
TASAF III Technical Assistant –Monitoring Officer Ms Lina Marealle said TASAF III Project, was the result of the successful implementation of two previous phases of both TASAF I and TASAF II.
