Strong renewable energy economy foreseen in Tanzania


TANZANIA Renewable Energy Business Incubator (TAREBI), is set to make a robust renewable energy economy that can create new jobs and strong economic impact.


TAREBI’s Manager, Mr Francis Rwebogora said in Dar es Salaam that a strong renewable energy economy will be realised through more technical training and investment support. Mr Rwebogora made the remarks at a knowledge sharing and networking meeting on financial inclusion for renewable energy enterprises that attracted key partners from the energy sector.
Mr Rwebogora explained that TAREBI has successfully managed to increase the distribution of solar lights and improved cook-stoves to the rural community as well as household incomes and enabling environment to young entrepreneurs.
“TAREBI’s mission is to develop and provide to its practices and resources that support clean energy business incubation, entrepreneurial mentoring and development and technology commercialization,” he said.
He said TAREBI seeks to harness the power of business and entrepreneurship to facilitate the development of market-based solutions to global environmental issues and would create highpaying clean tech jobs and industry within Tanzania that addresses current and future renewable energy needs.
“TAREBI will achieve this goal by providing a vast array of services, including technological support for renewable energy product development and guidance for business plan formation,” he said.
The company brings together the resources of the private sector, the university and government at all levels to assist entrepreneurs, business and industry in the solution of their problems, leading to increased productivity and profitability.
It offers Renewable Energy Strategy Sessions to give entrepreneurs an opportunity to network with experienced industry leaders and was committed to help renewable energy technology companies to bridge the gap between innovation and market using the expertise, business acumen and technological resources.
During the meeting, several other renewable energy enterprises and financial institutions such as CRDB Bank, Six Stars Holding Limited, Akiba Commercial Bank PLC, and FINCA Microfinance Bank, Sepon LTD and Africa Wind Energy Technology Company (AWETCO), gave different presentations.
