Three MPs have accused Cord leader Raila Odinga of politicising the Eurobond saga for selfish gain.
National
Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and
his Garsen
counterpart Ibrahim Sani accused Mr Odinga of “commenting on issues he does not understand”.
counterpart Ibrahim Sani accused Mr Odinga of “commenting on issues he does not understand”.
“The former Prime
Minister is commenting on the issue of Eurobond funds and yet he does
not understand what Eurobond is all about,” said Mr. Waititu.
The MPs said the opposition should stop criticising the government “just for the sake of it”.
“We
want leaders who are constructive in their criticism and conversant on
matters they talk about instead of doing it for the sake of it” said Mr
Duale.
The leaders made the remarks at a function
presided over by Deputy President William Ruto at Garsen grounds in Tana
River County on Saturday.
Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga said leaders from Coast will continue to work with the Government solve problems facing the region.
“The
Jubilee administration is implementing the pledges it made to Kenyans
during the last election and all leaders must support it for accelerated
development instead of engaging in endless politicking,” said Mr
Mwinga.
Mr Ruto urged communities in arid and semi-arid
areas to take advantage of irrigation schemes in their regions to
engage in serious farming.
Speaking at Garsen Township
and later at Oda Secondary School grounds in Tana River County, the
Deputy President said irrigation is the key to food security in the
country.
“I urge residents in areas where irrigation
projects have been started to engage in serious farming activities to be
food secure and uplift their living standards.
The
Deputy President singled out the Galana-Kulalu irrigation project that
has been initiated in Tana River County as one of the projects that will
transform the lives of the people.
“We want Tana River to be a food secure county and not one that relies on relief food,” added Mr Ruto.
Tana River Governor Hussein Dado hailed steps the Government has taken to improve the lives of pastoralists.
