Tecno Mobile has launched its Sh40,000 flagship phone in Kenya, making it the first 4G device by the Chinese tech firm to hit the local market.hare
The technology company has been focusing on the mid to lower end of the market with low-cost devices and its premium Phantom series, including the new Phantom 5.
“The evolution of the mobile phone has dramatically changed the way people experience the world around them. When we launched the first Tecno device in Africa 5 years ago, Internet penetration stood at two or three times less than what it is now,” said Hanane Karroumi, the Tecno Mobile public relations manager.
Tecno is basing its competitive advantage on the low price point compared to other companies that have priced their flagships devices at up to Sh100,000. According to the technology maker, Tecno controls 18.1 per cent of the Kenyan market.
