Cord leader Raila Odinga says the people behind the tribulations of Deputy President William Ruto at the ICC have started coming out.

Mr Odinga said yesterday that Kenyans would soon know the real architects of the DP’s case, as he denied pointing out Mr Ruto for investigations by the ICC.

He spoke as Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua gave Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria 24 hours to publicly apologise for claiming she was part of a team that procured false witnesses to fix the Deputy President.

Mr Odinga said that “perhaps the prayers, which are being held for Mr Ruto in parts of the country, have started bearing fruit”, with some of the people who fixed him starting to reveal their secrets.

“It would appear that William Ruto’s prayers are getting answered and his real enemies are giving themselves up without being coerced,” he said.

“This will go on until the real prince who has been executing these Machiavellian tactics against William Ruto is exposed,” he said through his spokesman, Mr Dennis Onyango, without elaborating.

'FABRICATING EVIDENCE'

He claimed that the “prince”’ spread propaganda in 2012 that ODM leaders fixed Mr Ruto after they fell out in the Grand Coalition government.

At the same time, Mr Odinga called for the prosecution of Mr Kuria for what he called perjury and fabricating evidence.

At Narc-Kenya headquarters in Nairobi, Ms Karua said she would direct her lawyer, Mr Gitobu Imanyara, to initiate legal action against Mr Kuria for making false allegations against her should he not apologise.

Mr Kuria on Sunday told a prayer rally for Mr Ruto at Kapsokwony, Mt Elgon, that he was part of a group, which he said included Ms Karua, that conjured up allegations and witnesses to influence the trial of the DP over the 2007-2008 post-election violence.

Mr Kuria also claimed that Mr Odinga was involved in a “political game” to fix opponents by asking the International Criminal Court to investigate them.

Ms Karua, however, denied any involvement in instigating investigations against Mr Ruto.

“My duties as the Minister for Justice did not include any investigation or search for witnesses, nor the identification or procurement of the witnesses for the case,” she said.

She asked the DPP to investigate the allegations.
