Outgoing East African Breweries Limited (EABL) Group Finance
Director Tracey Barnes was re-assigned a new global role within EABL’s
parent company, Diageo PLC.
EABL has denied that Tracey’s relocation was caused by other issues within the company terming the allegations as baseless.
The
firm Tuesday stated that her relocation from Kenya was a normal
rotation after she successfully served her three-year term during which
she strengthened EABL’s talent and developed a strong gender empowerment
platform in East Africa.
“Ms
Tracey is a well-respected senior leader in EABL and has a strong
track-record of developing people in roles she has held in Europe, North
America and Africa.
“Such
rotations are a common practice within multi-nationals. Tracey’s role
being a statutory one in the board requires a formal resignation
communicated to the regulatory authorities and the public in order for a
formal appointment to be made for her replacement,” EABL said in a
statement.
NO FORMAL COMPLAINTS
EABL
asserts that it has not received any formal complaint from any former
or existing employee regarding the allegations that were investigated,
cleared and closed by the immigrations department.
The
statement further notes that under Tracey’s stewardship, the business
achieved significant milestones among them a real transformation of the
EABL balance sheet including securing external debt in the Kenyan
capital market and the establishment of the African Shared Service
Centre.
