Tension is high at the Busia County government after Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa was locked out from his office Thursday by unknown people.
The county official went on temporary leave to pave the way for investigations into the lock-out.
The deputy governor found his office submerged in water after the door was broken.
Mr Wangalwa said he was shocked and was still trying to come to terms with the incident by Thursday.
But the deputy governor assured Busia residents that normal services in his office would resume on Monday.
According to Mr Wangalwa, he reported for work and “I found my office locked and after breaking the door it was all waterlogged."
“I suspected foul play,” he said.
The deputy governor said he could not rule out politics. He added: “I can’t rule out anything until after investigations”.
Mr Wangalwa has a frosty relationship with his boss Sospeter Ojaamong, but maintained that their working environment was “professional”.
To enhance security in his office and those of his staff, Mr Wangalwa has directed that all locks to his office doors and those of his staff be changed immediately.
He said the county government under Mr Ojaamong had under performed.
“We should therefore utilise these two years before the next elections to deliver development and services to the electorate as we pledged when assuming office,” the deputy governor said.
