Kenya Dairy Board Managing Director Mr Machira Gichohi has left the parastatal after 12 years of service.
According
to a statement from the board, Mr Gichohi has been replaced by the
board’s finance manager Mr Humphrey Maina. Mr Maina has been the finance
manager for the past 13 years.
It will be a full in-tray Mr Maina on his new acting capacity if he is to complete the programs started by Mr Gichohi.
During
his tenure, Mr Gichohi has been in the public calling on the government
to review the Value Added Tax imposed on farm inputs from 16 per cent
to six per cent.
In his recommendation, Mr Gichohi
said that this reduction would help farmers get inputs at lower costs
and as a result making milk and milk products affordable to more
consumers.
