Police in Marsabit have arrested four men suspected of being members of Al-Shabaab.
Marsabit
County Police Commander Bernard Kogo on Tuesday said that following a
tip-off for the public, the suspects were seized on Monday at the border
town of Moyale as they prepared to leave for Nairobi.
Mr Kogo said police have reasons to believe that the four, who are of Somali origin, had a sinister motive in the county.
SECURITY TIGHTENED
The county security boss told Nation.co.ke in his office that the suspects were undergoing interrogation to establish their mission in Kenya.
After being questioned by local detectives, the suspects would be handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit, Mr Kogo said.
He said security had been tightened across the country after Al-Shabaab massacred 148 people at Garissa University College and left scores injured.
The arrests came as police called for more cooperation from the public in the fight against crime.
