What is the happiest age in a woman’s life? Well, science says
that the magical age is 34 because at that age a woman has reached most
of the significant milestones like finding stable employment, finding a
long-term partner and acquiring a home.
Researchers
from the University of London asked 2,000 respondents all over the age
of 40 to reflect on their levels of happiness through the different
stages of their lives.
In doing so,
they uncovered other important milestones in a woman’s life. Apparently,
the journey starts just before age 13, when a girl officially becomes a
woman by starting her period.
Significant age
The next significant age for a woman was found to be 20 when she finally takes on a healthy adult relationship.
While
most women have had their first kiss at this age and some have had
their first sexual encounters, a woman isn’t really ready until she is
20. Interestingly, the study found that those women who waited until
their 20s to have sex turned out to be better educated, went on to have
better jobs and found more fulfilment from their marriages.
Age
25 was found to be the age when a woman is at her lowest sexual
confidence triggered by worries about having that perfect body.
Age 27 was found to be when the average woman settles down in a committed relationship.
A third of the women were found to be lucky enough to settle down with their first love.
Age
34 was found to be the happiest in a woman’s life because that is when
she can comfortably meet her needs and also has confidence in herself.
This
was also found to be the perfect age to give birth. Explaining these
findings, the researchers say that being settled at work as well as in
your personal life is a great ingredient of personal happiness.
Overall,
women were found to reflect on their lives with happiness. They
reported that their lives had been a balance of happy and sad times.
The
source of happiness in the 20s was found to be the freedom, career
progression and the social life. Happiness in the 40s was found to come
from watching the children grow and moving into bigger homes.
