“The rehabilitation you are doing is against directives given by the government that new laboratories should be built. I have a noted a room whose ceiling board is handing near the ground while the current labs have their ceilings high above in order to allow proper circulation of air.”MIZENGO PINDA

Rungwe.  Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda on Saturday urged residents of Rungwe District to ignore people using the ongoing process of writing the new Constitution for political gains.
He said some politicians have chosen to use the process to gain political mileage and that it was unfair to take such advantage without mentioning the good things contained in  the Proposed Mother Law.
The premier was addressing residents of Busokelo Council in Rungwe District, Mbeya Region during his four-day tour of Mbeya to assess the implementation of various development projects.
“The Proposed Constitution takes on board the interests of every group in the society. It’s therefore not fair for someone to just scrap it down and call it a trash,” he said.
He asked Mbeya residents to read the document and make right decisions without being forced or threatened by anybody.
“Changes made by the Constituent Assembly to the Warioba Commission accounted for only 20 per cent of the whole document, thus the reviewed articles were very few,” explained Mr Pinda.
He said the government has already started to circulate copies of the Proposed Constitution to the people in the regions.
“ Every ward will get at least 300 copies of the Proposed Constitution. Our aim is to give people the opportunity to read and understand what is written inside it so that they could make informed decisions [during the referendum],” he said.
The premier also asked people to show up in big numbers for the biometric voter registration so that they could participate in the coming elections.
“We have already started the exercise in some regions. I would like to ask you to show up in big numbers when the exercise commences in this region,” said Premier Pinda.
Rungwe West MP Prof David Mwakyusa asked the government to put more efforts in the implementation of Masoko Water Project.
“The project aims to benefit 15 villages. We signed the contract in 2009 and the project was supposed to be completed in 2011,” said the lawmaker.
