Looters Hit Foreign-Owned Shops in South Africa’s Eastern Cape

(Bloomberg) -- Three incidents of looting were reported late Tuesday afternoon in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, police said.
Looters attacked foreign-owned stores in Kwanobuhle, near the town of Uitenhage, the South Africa Police Service said on its twitter account.

Two men were shot dead on Jan. 25 during the looting of a Somali-owned shop in Langlaagte, south of Johannesburg. A store owned by immigrants was set on fire in Alexandra township, to the north of the city, early Monday.

Foreign-owned shops were targeted last week in Soweto township, southwest of Johannesburg, after a store owner shot and killed a boy who he said was part of a group of teenagers trying to rob his business.
