Citing Sim Banking for example, the CRDB managing
director, Dr Charles Kimei said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that his bank
has over two million customers, of which 1.2 million make use of Sim
Banking.
Dr Kimei’s sentiments concurs with findings of the
2013 report by Finscope which revealed that the number of Tanzanians
making use of financial services reached 57.4 per cent of the adult
population in 2013.
According to the report the growth was pushed substantially by the expansion of mobile phone cash technology.
“The introduction of Sim Banking several years ago
has helped Tanzanians access various banking services at any
geographical location. In fact, with Sim Banking you can do everything
as if you are in a branch,” remarked Dr Kimei while launching a new
campaign dubbed ‘Send Money through Sim Banking and Win Toyota Passo’.
During the campaign, the CRDB’s current and would-be customers are set to win Toyota Passo and other prizes.
