President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered the three arms of
government to work together to boost Kenya’s competitiveness as a
business destination in order to attract more investments.
Speaking
at the third Presidential Roundtable Forum with members of the private
sector, Mr Kenyatta said a closer working relationship within government
agencies would enhance a conducive environment for the various sectors
to create jobs for the young and the innovative population.
The
forum was held at State House in Nairobi and for the first time brought
together the three arms of government, private sector and development
partners.
“I am looking forward to a very close
engagement between all the partners here as we work together on
proposals and interventions that will improve the livelihoods of
Kenyans,” the President said.
The Head of State
welcomed the Judiciary, Legislature and devolved governments represented
in the forum by Deputy Chief Justice Kalpana Rawal, Speaker Justus
Muturi and Council of Governors chairman Isaac Ruto.
He
said their presence “at this meeting represents one of the major shifts
my government is making by embracing a whole of government approach in
resolving critical matters affecting the country.”
Saying
the private/public partnership must yield results, Mr Kenyatta
challenged all the key players to deliver on the commitments made at the
meeting.
“In the next forum, each sector and government ministry will present a brief on the progress made,” he said.
