Police are holding a 42-year-old man who was allegedly found with two guns at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Mr
Antony Munyoki Kimeu had a pistol and a rifle loaded with 15 and 30
rounds, respectively, when he was arrested on Christmas eve.
He had a firearm certificate for the pistol but did not have one authorising him to own the rifle.
STATEHOUSE OFFICIAL
“Upon
interrogation by police the man could not give a satisfactory account
as to why he had taken the guns to the airport,” said a source close to
the investigations.
The source said the man was also being investigated for masquerading as a State House official.
He was also found with a “government document,” which police did not disclose, until they have verified its authenticity.
His car was also confiscated and police have contacted the registrar of motor vehicles to verify its ownership.
Separately, police arrested an Eritrean and a Kenyan over a gun scuffle at a Solar Restaurant in Kileleshwa on Christmas Day.
Police were called by the hotel owner after the commotion started at 1 pm. A Ceska pistol with 14 bullets was found.
In
Kibera, two watchmen sustained gunshot injuries when they were attacked
by gangsters near Western Bar at 9pm on Christmas Day.
They were admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital.
In Kayole, gangsters shot dead Mr Timothy Karanja. Police suspect they wanted to steal his motorcycle.
In
Gatundu, Mr Michael Njuguna Njau died after he was hacked by unknown
