Telecommunications companies based in Mombasa will
have easier access to the industry regulator after the Communications
Authority of Kenya (CA) opened a county office at the Coast.
The Mombasa office comes three months after opening of the western regional office in Eldoret.
CA, which has been operating from its headquarters
in Nairobi over the past 15 years, says the regional units will place it
closer to the people and help execute its mandate in the counties.
“The office will serve six counties namely,
Mombasa, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu and offer a
range of services including licence application and handling of consumer
related issues,” said CA chairman Ngene Gituku.
The regulator appointed Samuel Okech as the new regional manager for Mombasa office
