Sabina Stadler, the Kenyan housemate evicted from “Big Brother Hotshots”, arrived back in the country on Wednesday evening.
Sabina, who had left behind her seven-month-old daughter in the care of her mother, was delighted to return home.
Addressing
a media briefing on Thursday, she said her decision to leave her
daughter behind was based on her thoughts about a better future she
wants for her.
“Like any mother, it
was hard to leave her but I looked at it as a chance to make her future
better as I was planning to set up an education fund for her once I won
the money,” said Sabina.
During her
auditions for the show, her daughter was only four months old and since
she was just trying out for the role, she hadn’t thought about the
consequences of leaving Kenya and joining the Big Brother house in South
Africa.
In her two weeks at the
house, Sabina grew fond of Uganda’s Ella, who she says has a great
personality, though she never got a chance to know each of the
housemates well.
WOULD LIKE ALUSA TO WIN
“I
would like Alusa to win .When it comes to talent, Zimbabwe’s JJ and
Namibia’s Permithias are the most talented in the house,” she added.
Her
plan was to use the prize money, in case she won, to support a
children’s home she runs in Mombasa and a foundation against sexual
violence.
“My mother also wanted a
RAV4 that I would have bought her with the money and of course buy us a
house and build one for my aged grandmother, who still lives in a mud
hut,” said Sabina.
Since she jetted
back into the country last evening, the former television presenter has
watched the show once though she admits it often feels awkward.
“Sometimes it felt like, oh, that’s my bed,” she said.
The
other Kenyan housemate, Alusa, is up for eviction this week and it is
up to his fellow countrymen and his fans across Africa to vote for him.
