An insurance firm and other partners in the tourism industry have launched an insurance cover that targets tourists from different countries.

AIG Insurance, Kenya Coast Tourist Association, Kenya Association of Tour Operators and the Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers will provide an insurance package that includes terrorism exposure.
“This partnership  will be extended to the entire coast tourism fraternity including Lamu to ensure that tourist flow is maintained,” he said.
SPORADIC TERROR ATTACKS
“We are targeting all the 100,000 potential clients and more who visit Kenya. The product will be available throughout to all tourists and is not a stop gap measure for the travel advisories,” Mr Hersi said.
This comes after the British Government issued travel advisories to its citizens not to visit parts of Kenya's coastal region over sporadic terror attacks.
Chairman Kenya Coast Tourists Association Mohammed Hersi noted that the move severely affected the tourism industry and the insurance cover will serve to mitigate the challenge.
