The Coca-Cola Tanzania has provided refrigerators and trolleys to a group of women entrepreneurs under the Sustainable Development Agency to start up business ventures.

Cecile Widman, senior officer for South Africa based Coca-Cola Sabco (Pty) Ltd, handed over the items during a ceremony held in Dar es Salaam at the weekend.

The women entrepreneurs received 20 trolleys, 40 cartons of soda and 20 coolers as business capital.

The donation is aimed to empower around five million women entrepreneurs by 2020 and to reach 30,000 Tanzanian women entrepreneurs by the end of this year.

Speaking shortly after handing over the items to the women, Coca-Cola South Africa official, Cecile Widman urged women entrepreneurs to draw concrete plans for their business so that they can prosper.

“I call upon you to utilise the resources provided to you by the Coco-Cola to create meaningful businesses,” he said.

Coca-Cola Public Relations officer John Kaiza also urged women entrepreneurs from Sustainable Development Agency to use the business supplies effectively.

“This is just the beginning … Coca-Cola has given you these items as startup capital for business. So grab the opportunity and transform your lives,” she said.

Sustainable Development Agency project manager Marian Damas thanked Coca-Cola for their support and said that the donations will help them to expand their businesses.
Damas also said that there are many women entrepreneurs who want to start up petty businesses like vending soft drinks and but lack capital.
