He was responding to a primary question by Mbarali MP, Modestus Kilufi (CCM) who wanted to know what plans the government has to ensure all villages are covered as stipulated in the Rural Energy Agency (REA).
In his response, Kitwanga said that most all villages in the MP’s Mbarali District will be connected during the second phase of REA.
He named the villages that are set to benefit with electricity services in the second phase as Mabira, Ikonga, Ubaruku-Isongole, Ilenga-Itekela, Itambo, Igawa, Luwango, Nummbuke, Mipogoro, Mawindi sekondari, Lugelele, Ihai and Ilongo.
Others are Sonyanga, Igalako, Uturo, Utengule, Mkwavila, Imalilo, Mwaindi, Madibira, Igava, Ipwani, Miyombweni, Utoro, Chang’ombe, Ukwamila A and B, Ruiwa A and B, Mahongele, Usangu and Luhanga.
He said the project will also coincide with the construction of a power line of 33KV and 180 kilometres, construction of a power line of 400VL of 70 kilomotres, installation of 31 transformers and connection of preliminary 2,100 customers at the cost of 13.066bn/-.
Kitwanga noted that the project implementation started in February this year and is expected to be completed by June next year.
