Postal Bank donates learning materials to Muhimbili Children's Oncology ward

Learning materials and a range of personal effect kits have been donated to children admitted at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) Children’s Oncology ward and 2m/- to the Department of Community Development at the the hospital.


Commenting on the donation, Tanzania Postal Bank Acting Manager Mystica Mapunda said the contribution is part of the bank’s social responsibility and urged the community in general to extend a helping hand to children and their families.

Mapunda made the remarks earlier this week in Dar es Salaam when the bank’s staff visited the children’s cancer ward at MNH.

Speaking soon after receiving the donation, Head of the Community Development Department at the MNH, Beatrice Mugula, applauded TPB for acknowledging the department’s efforts and challenges.

She said with the on going over crowding at the hospital, the department is heavily tasked and working around the clock to best address the situation.
Noting that the hospital is further burdened by a dire shortage of staff, she called on the general community, health stakeholders and private individuals and institutions to emulate the TPB initiative and offer support to the department.
