The prosecution substituted the particulars of an earlier charge of incitement to violence they both denied last year.
The
charge stated that on November 29, 2013 along Moyale-Marsabit road at
Walda location in Sololo district within AMrsabit county, they jointly
uttered words that were intended to cause violence between the Borana ,
Gabra and Burji communities by inciting the Borana youth to loot
assorted goods from a lorry registration number KBP 134A and thereafter
burned the said lorry.
Although the
alleged words they uttered were not contained in the details in the
charge sheet, the prosecution said “such words and acts were intended to
lead to the damage and destruction of property.”
The earlier charge had included a statement that the words were intended to bring physical injury.
The MP and the County Rep are out on a bond of Sh200,000 each and are set to stand trial Wednesday afternoon.
